Sorts of Lenses Used by Ray Ban Sunglasses

Ray-Ban uses four different types of lenses for glasses. The B15 XLT lens, the G15 XLT lenses, polarized lenses and normal lenses, which we will not discuss here because there is nothing special about them (they only come in different colors).

B15 XLT Lens

Ray-Ban lenses B15 XLT are brownish, block 100% of all UV rays and allow only 15% of visible light to pass through them (which is a 85% reduction!). These lenses Brown also offers a little more contrast by reducing the amount of blue light, unlike a lens G15 (which is described in the next paragraph). The blue light is easily captured by the eye and has the effect of reducing the other colors that are harder for our vision. In other words, reducing the amount of blue light, the differences between the colors and brightness of the objects are more pronounced.

G15 XLT Lens

G15 XLT lenses have the same properties as the B15 XLT lenses, though they are in gray / green color. The G15 lens is the lens aviator original military requested that the Ray-Ban to develop. The challenge was to design a lens that was "neutral color", in other words, a lens that filters the light as the human eye. If you want a lens that offers a little less contrast between colors, the G15 XLT lenses is for you because it offers similar sensitivity to color the human eye. With a lens of low contrast, the difference in color and brightness of the objects is moistened. This means that the colors you see on these lenses will be natural and gentle to the eyes.

Both B15 and G15 XLT lenses are made of optical glass, impact resistant which is naturally scratch resistant. Quality and stability are outstanding and with time you will notice virtually no fading of color.

Polarized Lens

Polarized lenses essentially reduce the amount of light produced by reflective surfaces such as water or other semi-transparent objects, and even some metal surfaces. Glare refers to the difficulty of seeing the light of day.

Sunlight, for example, jumping off of surfaces in all directions (ie vertical, horizontal or diagonal). For people who are active in the "flat" horizontal ", it means that the sunlight bounced horizontally into the eye in a similar way. This causes the pupils to contract and significantly reduce the contrast. That's why drivers are difficulty in seeing the road ahead of them, if you are driving in very sunny (if the sun is in front of them).

Polarized lenses have a laminated surface with vertical stripes to create a filter, which effectively cuts horizontally polarized light and only allows vertically polarized light entering In other words, if you happen to be in a clear lake that you can probably see surface or if you're driving, you can now see the road ahead.

Some limitations to the polarized lenses, which are LCD monitors can be distorted or you may notice a "rainbow" effect "if the car windows are tinted.

All 3 lenses are very useful, especially those polarized, but expect to pay a premium on the sunglasses.

Lens Base

The base of the lens simply refers to the base curve or front curve of the lens measured in "diopters, which is a term that really matters only to ophthalmologists. You will find many airmen who Ray-Ban has a "lens base 6, which basically means that they are sufficiently curved and designed to work like sunglasses (ie, they cover their eyes enough).

Lens Size

Lens size is measured in millimeters and refers to the length (or width) of a lens. Having this in mind when making a purchase. Many models Ray-Ban come in several different sizes of lens. Make sure you get the size that fits your face or you may end up with a pair of aviator shades that do not fit properly.

Some sunglasses Ray-Ban lenses have sizes that are designated as extra small, small, etc. It is common for models that do not resemble traditional glasses with two lenses. These glasses have a "uni" lens "design, where the lenses are easily connected through the bridge. For this reason, traditional design is not applicable. These shadows are for a high fashion look.
